Beautiful work, here. I especially am drawn to the farm field scene and the sunflower painting. Lovely work. I, too, appreciate quiet, gentle art

I don't know a lot about art, so my opinion's probably not worth much, but I do like the clarity of the colours in these pictures. I especially like the 'Tin Shed' one, but then I do tend to gravitate towards oranges, reds and those sorts of shades.

Hi there justwilliams, thanks so much for your comment. I have one tube of the water mixable oils. All the others are ordinary oils. I'm waiting to paint a masterpiece (haha) then can afford to buy all the colours I want in water mixables. Have only just started to sell my work, maybe after I do a few more and hopefully get some sales will be able to add to the oils I have. Thanks for the tips, very handy.

Your remark about rags and turps prompted me to ask whether you have tried water-mixable oils - such as the Winsor and Newton "Artisan" range. There is no turps needed, so no smell and everything cleans with cold water, and cleans even better by using a little ordinary soap. I also use Artisan brushes (among others) which have white bristles. Some of my brushes are several years old but still have white bristles thanks to cleaning with soap and water. Some have been lightly tinted with the recognised "staining" colours - but not bad for their age.
You can mix Artisan with ordinary oils but must then use turps for cleaning.
